simply fabulous!

I had a terrific day off. There is something wonderfully decadent about having a weekday off from work and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Today I spent the late morning/early afternoon with my former boss. She's also a very good friend and we've not seen each other in ages. It had been so long in fact, that we exchanged birthday gifts this afternoon (mine is May 13 and hers is June 5 - is that pathetic or what??). The weather was really warm today but not muggy so we sat outside on her lovely deck and had a terrific visit. It's a big adjustment when you're used to seeing someone every day at work to go to only seeing them once in a while. We've both been pretty busy recently too so we've not even talked on the phone much. After today we have both vowed to not let this happen again and we've already made a date to see each other again next week. I can't wait!

Tonight after dinner, Mark and I were feeling lucky so we took a trek down to the casino in Gananoque. We stopped when we were $12.75 up. We'd both been down $20 at one point and wanted to leave with at least a couple of bucks more than we walked in with. It was fun although the crowd tonight was pretty geriatric. We don't get down there very often and we usually have a good time when we go. I think if we went more often, we probably wouldn't enjoy it as much!!

Stolen from Bev:

20 Questions to a Better Personality

Wackiness: 96/100
Rationality: 78/100
Constructiveness: 106/100
Leadership: 82/100

You are a WRCL--Wacky Rational Constructive Leader. This makes you a golden god. People gravitate to you, and you make them feel good. You are smart, charismatic, and interesting. You may be too sensitive to others reactions, especially criticism. Your self-opinion and mood depends greatly on those around you.

You think fast and have a smart mouth, is a hoot to your friends and razorwire to your enemies. You hold a grudge like a brass ring. You crackle.

Although you have a leader's personality, you often choose not to lead, as leaders stray too far from their audience. You probably weren't very popular in high school--the joke's on them!

You may be a rock star.

One thing that made me smile today: My birthday gift from Tam. She gives the best gifts. They are usually things that I can use for the house but that are gorgeous and decorative. She gave me a lovely stepping stone for my garden. It is square has three sunflowers on it. I think I'll put it in the little garden at the back where I planted (of all things) sunflowers. She also gave me a beautiful green ceramic container that you can burn these gel things in. I've never seen them before but apparently, when you burn the gel stuff, it keeps the bugs away. It'll be super useful too, the mosquitoes have taken over our backyard at the moment!!
