sushi man

He instantly went into migraine mode and was sick to his stomach when he got to the house. People are so inconsiderate. Never mind that most taxis are kept scent free because they take a lot of folks to and from various medical appointments, you would think that she'd have asked if was okay before doing it. When I got into the cab to go to work, I could still smell it. It was very sweet smelling, just gross, almost banana-y but really fake vanilla-y banana. Not good.

My computer at home has been acting up for a while now and we've been nursing it along. On Friday evening, it started overheating. On Saturday, the sound card died. Before we could figure out if it was the CPU or the sound card causing the issue, the whole thing died. Fortunately, I had an opportunity to back everything up before it happened so I've not lost any data at all. We're both just really irritated by the idea of having to figure out what is going on and then buy the parts to get it up and running again. I'd really hoped we could have avoided this until the summer but sometimes you just can't control crap like this.

Other than doing errands and chores and eating sushi (oh, and playing with the dogs of course), our weekend was pretty quiet. Good quiet, relaxing quiet, fun quiet. The only thing I can think to complain about right now is the computer thing. In the grand scheme of things, that's not so bad, is it?

fogged up

This morning I got up pretty early. Last night after work, we were both pretty zonked out and while we needed to get a few things at the grocery store, neither of us felt up to it. We decided it would be better to try to get our errands done early today, which we did.

It felt pretty good. By 1 p.m. we'd done errands and I had laundry finished up and Mark had a couple of chores crossed of off his list. By 1:45 though, we were ready for a nap. When we returned from the stores, I had a wicked headache. Not sure what caused it but I felt really bleary-eyed. Fortunately, the nap and some advil seemed to knock it out. yay pills.

We've been keeping a pretty low profile the past few days. On Thursday afternoon, at the cab stand office, Mark fell on the ice. Fortunately he didn't break anything but his shoulder was pretty sore. It's stuff like that which makes you feel like you've really had enough of winter already.

Not too sure what we're doing this evening. We've got a couple of movies that we'd like to watch so we may do that, or have a Vivienne Vyle marathon. Either way, for me, less is better than more.

under pressure

Something weird was happening around here today.

When Mark picked me up this morning, he had a bit of a headache. He took a couple of tylenol and we got in the car and headed toward my office. About 1/2 way to work, he sort of yelped (we were stopped at a light at the time). A full blown migraine had kicked in at that moment.

He parked the cab after he dropped me off and went home to bed. When I phoned him at 2 p.m., he was really groggy. Apparently, he'd taken his migraine meds when he got home. He slept for a couple of hours and woke up feeling much better. Ginger Ale and toast called his name so he got out of bed and ate something. Out of nowhere, he got pounded with a second headache. He was in the middle of a drug hazed second nap when I called. By the time I finished work he was sort of functioning again but only enough to pick me up and drive home.

I ran out for soup and more ginger ale after work. He had some soup and more toast and his stomach and head are settled at the moment. Tomorrow he'll have the migraine meds hangover but hopefully that'll be all he'll have. The weather report looks sort of sketchy so I hope he doesn't get slammed with another one tomorrow. We really spoke too soon I guess. Just last week Mark and I were talking about how he hadn't had one in several weeks. It was too much to hope that they were gone I guess. They are really rotten and I wouldn't wish them on anyone.

dead in the head

my brain is not working so very well.

I'm that busy at work right now that by the time I get home at night, I'm almost completely brain dead.

I owe the world and his wife an email, I'm behind in paperwork stuff here at home. Our house is a little grubbier than it usually is.

We had a large event last weekend, we have a super large one starting a week from tomorrow (that one goes for 4 days).

After that, I can breathe for about 2 days and then we have another event in late October, 3 in November...I can't think much beyond that.

What I did think about today was Mark's head. The poor guy was knocked on his ass by this weather and has been sick with a migraine all day. He's feeling a little better right now but he's on a lot of medication and is in bed as I type this. Tomorrow will be a better day for him, I hope.

I hope it's better for me too, selfishly.

sick in the head

Poor Mark.

This weather we're having is killing him. He had a migraine yesterday and today. This morning he went to work but I had to go pick him up after a couple of hours because he was so sick.

All afternoon there was a thunderstorm warning in effect but I don't think we'll be seeing any rain today. The pressure is there, outside I mean, but it doesn't want to break. Poor guy, he's sick sick sick right now.

Anyway, because I've been distracted with poor Mark, I leave you with this. Another little nugget of memories from my high school days. enjoy!

hot tuesday

it got warm again today and for some reason, I think, the barometric pressure changes have given me a headache. I also have the hiccups but I don't think I can blame that on the weather. I can try but I don't think I will.

As you can see by my recent posts, I've been farting around on you tube a fair bit recently. I'm often pleasantly surprised by things I find there. Today, for example, I found this:

For many many years, I thought that Johnny McBean was a totally made up guy. I heard stories about him from the guys in the Stand GT but never imagined that Johnny actually existed. When I finally met him, I was a little surprised but it was a good thing. He was real, the stories were true and he was a nice guy to boot. So, yeah, yay for Johnny McBean. Oh, and yay for the Stand GT and yay for chicken coops.

rock!

little lunch buddy

As you can tell, I'm enjoying my new camera hugely. I took it to work today with great intentions of walking around campus at lunch, taking photos of the construction.

Instead, I sat on a bench with a friend, in the sunshine, and had a chat and ate my sammich and didn't feed the birds.

Mean, I know.

It was really difficult to come back to work today after a fabulous birthday weekend. Really difficult, like insanely hard.

I did survive though, somehow. Poor Mark is a little worse for wear right now, he's got a migraine. The weather must be planning something bad for his head to be pounding so much. Fingers crossed, a good night's sleep will make it right again. No one needs to feel this bad, ever.
