CanCon Thursday - The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald

It's CanCon Thursday again.  It's also CanCon week and a bit so for a special treat, I'm sharing one of what I consider to be ultra-Canadian songs.

This particular song was and continues to be popular, beloved and covered by a variety of artists.  It was written by one of Canada's national treasures, Gordon Lightfoot.  It's quite something that a haunting 6-minute ballad about the sinking of a bulk carrier ship on Lake Superior could be a number one hit record (in Canada, it got to Number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US).
