vacation is here, we're having a blast and I just thought I'd take a quick moment to check in, say hello and bop back out again.

guarding the barbecue
I can't believe that I didn't post all weekend. Too much fun is what I'll blame it on I guess!!
I started off the weekend spending a couple of hours with a group of women who I absolultely love. We laughed so hard that I thought I'd pee myself a couple of times!! It was crazy amounts of fun and I hope that we will get together and do it more often.
The rest of the weekend was spent with Mark and Sam. We had a lazy, fun, laugh-filled weekend. As I'd hoped, there were naps and generally being very relaxed amongst doing a couple of errands (in the rain) and getting chores done early on Saturday.
This morning I did feel energized and ready to face the week which is how we all should feel (but seldom do) after the weekend.

spongebob on the tree
when Mark got home from work this afternoon, we decided to take a quick spin out for our last grocery shop before Christmas.
I had planned to go out tomorrow morning, early, and do the shop but I liked his suggestion of us doing it together so out we went. It's funny, traffic was a little heavy, the stores were kind of busy (not nuts, just full of really dopey-acting people) but it was amusing and fun.
When you have your shopping all done and wrapped and you're well underway to being ready for the holidays, your perspective changes. We sat at Costco and had a soda after we shopped and watched folks checking out. Some people seemed like us, relaxed and happy, amused. Other folks seemed foul tempered, angry, confused, generally freaked. Not good.
I don't ever want to find myself in that position - desperate looking. Many people seemed to be wandering around without a clue of what they were doing, desperate to buy something. How that can be fun I ask?
I'm so glad that we don't have to go near the shoppes this weekend. I'm happy to stick close to home, finishing up my baking and hanging out with friends. Hope you get to do some of that too.

campus construction
I've been having a busy week and have been not spending as much time in front of the computer as I normally would.
This is a good thing and a bad thing I suppose. It's good because I've been out and doing other things. It's bad cuz there are lots of things I should probably be working on that I'm not.
Oh well, if the weather stays rainy (it's raining here right now) over the weekend, I suspect that I'll have lots of time to get stuff done inside.
I had good news (thanks mum!!) about strawberries. The place we usually go for strawberries is open again and mum reports that they are really lovely this year. Mark has learned of another strawberry farm in the east end (our traditional place is near Adolphustown - to the west) which we want to check out as well. Add to that, the Skeleton Park Music Festival and some chores and you can see that we'll be spoiled for choice on Saturday.
It's a nice problem have to have I think!

feels like summer
are you having fun today? or rather, did you have fun today?
I've had fun today.
the weather was absolutely amazing here, I got my chores done early, got into the pool on two separate occasions and spent some time visiting with friends.

candy apples
When life gives you apples, dip 'em in cherry flavoured sugar and enjoy!!
Well, not quite but you get the sentiment, right?
On the way home from dinner (at my parents, in celebration of my birthday - two days early, it's not until Sunday) tonight, we saw a carnival set up in a mall parking lot. I made Mark stop so I could get some photos of the rides and people. Of course, these things always also have the best signs ever. I am a sucker for a good sign.
I'm a little surprised that I'm still awake at this hour. Usually we're alseep by now but it is Friday and it is my birthday weekend so it's okay. Tomorrow, we can sleep in a bit. We're planning a trip down south of the border. Probably to Syracuse for some shopping and birthday fun. I'm not sure if we'll go tomorrow or Sunday, it's all kind of up in the air at the moment.
Whatever we do or wherever we end up, it'll be fine with me. I don't plan to do much more than have fun and enjoy the last few hours of my 30's.

happy cinco de mayo people!!
My brother informs me that it's to commemorate a jar of helman's falling overboard but I really know what the holiday is about. I also know that it's been userped by folks who sell tequila and sombreros and I suppose that later this evening, we'll fall victim to that whole thing. Not the sombreros so much but I do plan to make margaritas later.

we're also barbecuing. a neighbour couple are coming over for dinner. should be fun although, the wind is sort of cool right now so I'm doubtful that we'll be spending much time outside.
Today's been busy so far. Up early doing some chores around the house, a quick dash to the grocery store (we were at Costco last night but you can't ever really get everything you need at Costco) and then some dinner prep. It's a good thing that the fun times and nice visits always make you forget about all the hustle and bustle that impending company always brings.
