Because It's Tuesday - week of June 16

Well, it's been a little while since I have posted here.

The whole isolated / pandemic / work from home thing has kept me very busy and while I have intended to post here, it's just not happened. Not in a while anyway. One of the ways I was soothing myself over the past 3 months was by re-watching The West Wing.  Watching President Barlet, Josh, Charlie, Toby and CJ (and the rest) made me feel better and kept me from watching the news too much.

So I'm back, not going to promise to do this regularly or anything but I'm posting today and it feels pretty nice.

As it's Tuesday, I'm sharing a cover with you. It's a song that I have a lot of affection for and have had since I was in 7th grade. I'm not going to say much more about it, in fact, you may find that I'm talking less about the music and just sharing it for now. So here you go, without further discussion, Seaweed's 1993 (which you probably heard on the Clerks soundtrack back in 1994) version of Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way" from their 1977 album, Rumours.

Thanks to Bill for reminding me about this one. It's super fab!!

If I could
Maybe I'd give you my world
How can I
When you won't take it from me

Because It's Tuesday - week of September 3

Hello from beautiful Summerland, British Columbia!

I've returned to BC this week and am having a fantastic time so far. As it's Tuesday again, it's time for a cover. This week I am sharing HAIM's version of Fleetwood Mac's Hold Me.

This was recorded for the 2012 album, Just Tell Me What You Want:  A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac.

I've been a fan of Fleetwood Mac's since I was in elementary school. We used to sneak into my friend Shari's house at lunch time to listen to her parent's copy of Rumors.

This version of hold me is a lot fun, hope you dig it xo

There's nobody in the future
So baby let me hand you my love
Oh, there's no step for you to dance to
So slip your hand inside of my glove

Easy Like Sunday Morning - Say You Love Me

Sunday mornings at my house are not about rushing around getting ready for church. As a heathen, I can sleep in (as much as Gracie will allow), make a giant mug (or 3) of coffee and be a lump.  Often times I'm a lump doing laundry but the nice thing is that I don't have to go too far and I can just enjoy a peaceful morning.

In keeping with the theme of things being "easy like Sunday morning" (thanks Commodores!!) I've decided that on Sundays, at least for the month of November, I'm going to share some easy listening tunes with you.  I find them easy to listen to anyway, they aren't going to be songs that make you want to dance around the house in your under pants but they may make you smile and perhaps contemplate a nap.  After all, it is Sunday.

Today's easy like Sunday morning song is a classic from Fleetwood Mac, "Say You Love Me."  This video is a 1997 live performance by the group.  Christine and Stevie's harmonies are really lovely on this.  I hope you enjoy this tune and a nice mellow morning too xo

Not Guilty, Just Pleasure Friday - Gypsy

For a couple of weeks now this song has been in my head, a lot.  Not sure why but you can't always figure these things out.

There is something about hearing Stevie Nicks sing that just makes me smile.  She just seems like the kind of person who gives no fucks what folks think about her, she's just happy in herself, loving her music.  Now, this is a Fleetwood Mac song not a Stevie Nicks song, I know.  I have a lot of good memories from my childhood which are attached to Fleetwood Mac.  My friends and I would listen to them a lot.  By the time I was in high school, they became a bit of a guilty pleasure for me as I started to discover "cooler" music.  I still listen to that cool music but I also still enjoy Fleetwood Mac.

Anyway, I wanted to share this very very 80's video with you for Gypsy. It really does look like 1982 (except the retro bits) if 1982 could have a look.  Let me know if you get this stuck in your head too lovelies xo

sunshine on a rainy day

I recently listened to Marc Maron interview Dave Grohl about his Sound City documentary and got thinking a lot about Fleetwood Mac.

I was 10 years old when their classic album Rumors was released.  You could not escape those songs.  They were constantly on the radio, the sunny tunes, the biting lyrics.  Hearing Dave talk about Sound City inspired me to go back and listen to Rumors again, for the first time in a really long time.

Hearing those old songs transported me back to 7th or 8th grade.  At lunchtime, we used to go to my friend Shari's house.  Her backyard was spitting distance from the school yard.  We could go to her house, climb up the tv antenna and get into her room.  Shari's dad had the stereo system wired through the entire house, there were speakers in every room and the turntable was built into an end table in the living room, very cool to my 12 year old self.  We would put on her mother's copy of Rumors and dance around the living room until it was time to get back to school (we were usually running out the door toward the school when the bell ran).

This sunny little memory of the late 70's broke through the dark, rainy, icy morning for me and distracted me from worrying about the large, ice-covered tree branch that is swinging wildly outside my window right now.

Happy Friday kids!
