Not Guilty, Just Pleasure - Date Night

On Sunday, I got a notification on my YouTube app that our father, who arts just fine, had released a new video.  This time, for "Date Night."  It's my not guilty, just pleasure pick for the week.

I keep listening and listening to "God's Favourite Customer."  I listen to it at work, at home, in the car... it's everywhere I need to be and, just like previous Father John Misty records, I can't pick a favourite song.  I suppose it's like not being able to pick a favourite child.  They all have their quirks and idiosyncrasies.  They are all lovely on their own and together, well, that's just something special.

This video, directed and animated by Chad Van Gaalen, is a perfect compliment to this song.  "Date Night" contains one of my favourite lines from this album, "I didn't get invited but I know where to go" (another favourite line - perhaps one of my top 3 favourite opening lines for a song - is from "Disappointing Diamonds are the rarest of them all" - "Like a pervert on a crowded bus, A glare of love bears down on us.")

Listen, watch, enjoy, don't overthink it too much.  How does this make you feel kittens? xo

Not Guilty, Just Pleasure Friday - Please Don't Die

In the same way Father John Misty gives us consistently amazing music, FJM also gives good video. I've yet to see a video by Mr Tillman and Co. that didn't grab me.

Now, I realize that my first Friday post was devoted to the video for "Mr Tillman" but I'm talking up another FJM video.  This one, for "Please Don't Die" was released earlier this week.  Today is release day for the new LP, "God's Favorite Customer." I'm hopeful that my pre-ordered way too long ago, red vinyl copy is in the mail at home when I get there later on.

I love the animation (it's similar to the video for "Things It Would Have Been Helpful To Know Before The Revolution").  The first time I watched this video, I had goosebumps.  It's eerie and beautiful and, without giving too much away, I'll just say I love a happy ending.

Let me know if it gives you goosebumps too.  Enjoy kiddies xo

Not Guilty, Just Pleasure Friday - Mr. Tillman

May the fourth be with you today folks.

Star Wars day is an awesome day and while I doubt that I'll run into anyone in a Chewbacca costume today, it would be pretty fucking cool if I did.

So, a year ago this weekend I took off to Toronto all by my bad self to see Father John Misty.  It was a marvelous show and I've listened to "Pure Comedy" more times than I could possibly count since.

The FJM folks are releasing a new record in a few weeks, "God's Favourite Customer" will be out June 1.  I have my copy (red vinyl yes please) pre-ordered and have been enjoying the first three tracks (which got leaked so they had to release them!) for the past couple of weeks.  Mr Tillman and Co. finally released a video of "Mr Tillman."  I love this video, so much.  It's funny and weird and very very "Josh Tillman" if you know what I mean!

Well..you can see what I mean kittens xo
