A friend sent this to me and it was exactly what I needed!
Today's Lesson:
One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realised what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well.
He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of your troubles is a stepping-stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.
Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.
2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.
3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less
NOW...Enough of that crap.
The donkey later came back and bit the crap out of the farmer who had tried to bury him. The gash from the bite got infected, and the farmer eventually died in agony from septic shock.
Moral From Today's Lesson:
When you do something wrong and try to cover your ass, it always comes back to bite you!

To say I've been feeling overwhelmed just recently would be a huge understatement.
Last September, this big announcement was made at work about a restructuring that would take place throughout the organization. From September to December, I let the uncertainty of it all eat away at me. Many of my co-workers did this too. It wasn't the healthiest way to deal with it but we had been given a very tiny amount of information and basically told to just not worry about it, carry on with what you're doing and it'll be fine. Personally, I'd have rather not heard anything about it at all instead of just hearing a tiny little bit (just enough to drive you crazy with worry).
After Christmas, I came back to work with a new resolution: I wasn't going to worry about it. This worked okay until last week when we found out what our jobs would be. I'm happy to report that I'm actually still employed (some folks aren't so lucky) but I'm going to be doing something that seems to be completely different from what I have been doing for the past 8 years. I'm sure that in the long run, it'll be fine. I'm sure it's something that I can do and do well. The transition period seems like it is going to be completely insane but somehow I'll get through it.
Needless to say, I've been totally stressed for the past week. I've been really exhausted and probably quite grumpy. I'm the kind of person who needs lists and schedules. I need to know where I'm going and how I'm going to get there (as far as work goes anyway). All of this upheaval has thrown me for a huge loop. Anyway, just thought that I should explain my absence over the past week. Not sure how much time I'll have to check in here over the next little while but I'm going to do my best to post at least a couple of times a week.
Now, onto fun stuff...Stolen from the lovely Bev!

Due to circumstances that are way beyond my control (ie it's work related), I've not been around much this week. I can't believe that it's almost the weekend again!!
Anyway, this week's Friday Five is here...
When was the last time you...
1. ...went to the doctor?
My last visit to my GP was on February 11.
2. ...went to the dentist?
I was at the Dentist just this week, February 16.
3. ...filled your gas tank?
Gas was put in our car on Monday afternoon.
4. ...got enough sleep?
Over the weekend last weekend. I got really rested up then.
5. ...backed up your computer?
I do it pretty much every other day.

pearly whites
I had an awesome cleaning / check up at the dentist this morning. I'm really happy that my teeth are all healthy and strong but all that baking soda they blast you with has left my mouth really sore tonight. The underside of my tongue got absolutely pounded with the stuff. Yuck!! Oh well, can't complain, at least I don't have to go back again until the end of November.
My day off was really nice. After the dentist, my mum and I went shopping and then I met some girlfriends for lunch. Mark was able to get off work early so we spent the afternoon together. I feel really rested and refreshed after the weekend. Anyway, here's another fun quiz, which colour are you?
